TASTING
An elegant, more feminine expression of Barossa Syrah (Shiraz), with notes of blackcurrant, liquorice, forest fruits, and cubeb berries
WINEMAKING NOTES
100% Syrah | Hand-harvested from a 1925-planted vineyard tended by Tom Schiller, James’ old school friend | 10% whole-bunch fermentation | 9 months’ aging in one-third clay jarres, one-third seasoned French oak, and one-third new French oak
REVIEWS
93 points, Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
“Syrah sourced from a 1925-planted vineyard tended by Tom Schiller; 10% whole bunch and matured in clay and French oak. Bright, punchy blackberry and blackcurrant pastille fruits, along with black cherry and dark plum. Hints of brown spice, dark chocolate, crushed herbs, olive tapenade, cold tea, aniseed and earth. There's a pleasing juiciness and vibrancy to the fruit on the palate, fine, silty tannins and a bright pastille-esque acidity as the wine trails off.”
