TASTING
An elegant, more feminine expression of Barossa Syrah (Shiraz), with notes of blackcurrant, liquorice, forest fruits, and cubeb berries
WINEMAKING NOTES
100% Syrah | Hand-harvested from a 1925-planted vineyard tended by Tom Schiller, James’ old school friend | 10% whole-bunch fermentation | 9 months’ aging in one-third clay jarres, one-third seasoned French oak, and one-third new French oak
REVIEWS
93 points, Ken Gargett, Wine Pilot
“Garnet/magenta in colour, the nose is quite earthy and we have some early complexity evident. There are notes of chocolate, leather, black cherries, aniseed, dried herbs, and cold tea. Quite a savoury style. We do see some mushroomy notes emerging down the track. There is good acidity, excellent length and fine tannins. A hint of sour cherry is evident right at the finish. For enjoying over the next eight years.”
