Short Stories 2022 Mount Benson 'Cabernets' Field Blend
TASTING NOTES
Cassis, violets, and dark chocolate truffles. Perfumed and elegant with fine yet structured tannins, this traditional Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc is a beautiful expression of Mount Benson's cool maritime climate.
WINEMAKING
Gently de-stemmed grapes are co-fermented in open top fermenters with a focus on maintaining fruit vibrancy. After 10 days on skins, the wine is moved to French oak barriques (25% new) for maturation for 14 months. A further 6 months of bottle age results in a wonderfully rounded wine with alluring dark fruit and dusty cocoa notes.
REVIEWS
92 points, Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
"It's splendidly ripe and inviting on the nose with dark berry, dried herb, cured meat and hazelnut aromas. The palate is equally attractive with medium-full body, supple texture and fine-grained tannins. Wonderfully expressed with lovely complexity, offering terrific drinking. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot & Cabernet Franc".
